i grew up when
close became small
and complete became bigger
when home became the train station
at the lazy sunset
as I climbed into my grandads
tin box car
when long walks weren’t so long
anymore (my legs got longer)
that lazy sunset hung around
all night (my eyes got bigger)
when far off places became
often visited locals
and the mountains in the distance
were just an arms reach away
oil on a canvas beneath my fingertip
i grew up when my complete world got bigger
and then the world i grew up in
couldn’t have seemed
any smaller
